I recall it once being mentioned that the courier agents had a higher chance of giving tech 2 components. However, this could just be selective memory on my part. Also as you yourself mention, the R&D corps will generally require courier missions...

Since it's been introduced the price of lab slots has reached a little over 2,000 isk, up from 1,000 If we consider that this is a doubling, rather than simply +1,000 then it will reach 4,000 in a similar span, then 8,000 16,000 32,000 and so on....
